About Us
OOPS,Inc...an Ounce Of Prevention Services, established over 12 years ago, by the Owner/Consultant, Mr. Henry T. Armstrong III, Paine College graduate, Troy State graduate student w/concentration in Criminal Justice,Military Retired, several years as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Human Relations Counselor; several years working with troubled teens, Juvenile Justice, Correctional Officer, Social Services, Law Enforcement/P.O.S.T. and more. While OOPS,Inc. seeks to enhance and support a positive home environment that is currently being nurtured by the child's family unit, OOPS,Inc. also realizes that there are some children who need immediate intervention, before making "costly mistakes" having to appear before a juvenile court judge or being placed on probation or incarcerated at a Youth Detention Center or worst, receiving a juvenile record, which further impedes life rewards.
OOPS targets four critical areas that are risk factors for juveniles: FAMILY-poor and inconsistent family mang.,parent or siblings engaging in criminal behavior, conflict w/fam.members. SCHOOL-early antisocial behavior, school failure, low committment to education, truant, supensions, dropping out of school.COMMUNITY-low neighborhood attachment, community disorganization,socio-economic deprivation. INDIVIDUAL(peer)-antisocial behavior, alienation, rebellious. OOPS seeks to encourage Protective Factors: bonding, attachment, committment, belief, opportunities, skills, recognition, rewards, reinforcement. OOPS seeks to support these "Protective Factors" with youth learning all they can from participating in the OOPS program.Parents will be required to attend OOPS.****SESSIONS BEGIN JUNE 2010*** Register NOW!!!
